Babies, Babies Everywhere
2008, This year we have experienced a good year. The ewes produced some nice lambs early in January & February and even got a few in April & May. The older lambs have already been sold and the later crop will be available this fall. The goats also did well this year, although, I did get a few with frostbitten feet. Therefore, unless we get a heated barn, I think it is best for the goats to kid in March/April or the fall. They are susceptible to cold conditions and if the mother is not real attentive, they get chilled quickly and usually die. We have some geese, ducks and chickens, and this year of babies didn't pass them by. There are ducklings, chicks & goslings everywhere. This year we are working on our parasite program, installing an updated corral and adding an orchard.
